On November 14, The Denver Foundation
held its annual Philanthropic Leadership Awards ceremony at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. Jeff Watkins
, tax partner at EKS&H, was among the four honorees for his work in estate and charitable planning.
The Denver Foundation works to improve people’s lives in the areas of basic human needs, economic opportunity, education, and leadership and equity. Now in its 14th year, the Philanthropic Leadership Awards recognize professional advisors who have distinguished themselves as champions of philanthropy and the charitable community. “We appreciate the support of the professional advisor community, whose members recognize that charitable giving is an important part of a comprehensive legal, financial, and tax planning discussion,” comments Christine Márquez-Hudson, CEO and President of The Denver Foundation.
Jeff has been involved in public accounting for more than 20 years and leads EKS&H’s Wealth Advisory Services practice. He works primarily with high-net-worth individuals, including business executives, entrepreneurs, and families. He has extensive experience in income tax planning and compliance, financial planning, family office services, wealth transfer planning, and philanthropy guidance.
He is a past president of the Colorado Philanthropic Advisors Network, a member and past president of the Denver Estate Planning Council, board member and president elect of Anchor Center for Blind Children; advisory board member of the Children’s Hospital Foundation, and advisory board member of the University of Colorado Foundation. Since 2009, Jeff has been honored by Denver’s 5280 Magazine as one of the Best Wealth Managers in the Rocky Mountain Region; he was awarded by Chambers and Partners’ High Net Worth (HNW) guide in 2016 with a Top Accountancy and Tax Firm award; and he is a Family Office Exchange (FOX) member.
Jeff is “very honored” to receive this “unexpected recognition.” He says, “It was a humbling experience, and I hope I can continue to live up to the expectations of my colleagues and the community.”
EKS&H CEO Bob Hottman
remarks, “We’re very proud of Jeff and of our firm’s commitment to community involvement. We work closely with The Denver Foundation in many areas and know it’s in a premier position to recognize outstanding charitable work.”
