Intel Security plans to decommission select McAfee software-as-a-service (SaaS) products on January 11, 2017, including SaaS Email Protection and Archiving. What does this mean for you? If you are using McAfee, email communication for your company may cease to work and cause a disruption to your business. 

To avoid disruption, all current McAfee SaaS customers will have to go through a conversion process to another provider. This means the deployment and provisioning process for a new email protection and archiving service would have to occur again to continue receiving email security as well as email communication for your company. For Email Protection and Archiving, affected components include Email Archiving, Email Encryption, and Email Protection & ContinuitFor SaaS Email Archiving customers, email will continue to be archived until the subscription’s expiration date, and then customers must extract archived messages and import into an alternative platform within six months. After that six-month period, all messages will be automatically and permanently deleted from the archive.

Considering how mission critical email is, and how popular it remains for attacks such as malware, phishing, and data leakage, the one thing that is clear is you cannot afford to have email without some kind of filtering and hygiene system.
